The track editor

The six-section wizard behind every track, covering required and optional sections, files, per-license pricing, and publishing or scheduling.

Opening a track lands you on the editor's overview: a progress ring, a status message, and one row per section. Three sections (Track info, Audio files and Pricing) are required before you can publish, and three are optional: Metadata, Lyrics & credits and Storefront player. On a draft, the required sections chain into a wizard (Next walks you through them in order); optional sections open from the overview and return there with Done.

The overview: each row summarizes its section and flags anything missing before you can publish.

The status card at the top tells you exactly where you stand: "N steps left before you can publish" with a Continue setup button on an incomplete draft, "All set" when everything required is done, Live in your store with a View product link once published, "Scheduled" for future-dated tracks, and "Archived" with an Unarchive button.

The wizard never saves as you go: "Nothing is saved until you publish — or use Save at the top any time." Moving between sections doesn't save anything either.

Track info (required)

What buyers see first:

  • Title (required, up to 60 characters).
  • Add artwork: square JPG or PNG, shown in your store and player.
  • Type: Song, Beat or Vocals. The type changes how the rest of the editor behaves: songs sell at a flat price with no stems, previews or auto-tagging; beats and vocals sell under your licenses.
  • Release date: a future date turns publishing into scheduling (see below).
  • Description (up to 120 characters): shown on your product page.

Quick toggles at the top of the overview: Private (hide from storefront browsing) and Allow preview. If it's on, Tuneboom automatically generates a 30-second preview if tagged audio is not set.

Audio files (required)

One row for each kind of audio:

  • Untagged master (for songs: High quality master): required. The master buyers download after purchase; .mp3, .wav or .flac. The row shows a waveform so you can glance-check the right audio landed.
  • Track stems: optional (beats and vocals). A .zip or .rar of stems, delivered with purchases.
  • Tagged preview: optional (beats and vocals). Your own tagged preview of what buyers hear before purchase. If your plan includes auto-tagging, an uploaded preview replaces the automatic tag for this track.
  • Auto-tag this track Pro plan: renders your shop voice tag into this track's preview, with per-track overrides for length, interval, loudness and character. Covered in depth in Auto-tagging.

Files land in your Media library, so you can reuse an upload across tracks.

Pricing (required)

Beats and vocals price per license; defaults come from your license templates.
  • Songs get one flat Price field.
  • Beats and vocals get one price field per enabled license. Defaults come from your license templates; override them for this track here. Disabled licenses collapse into a Disabled licenses group; the in-app banner reminds you: these licenses come from your licenses & contracts page, so to add one, edit your terms there. See Creating and editing licenses.
  • Not for sale: the track is not sold on its own and has no Shopify product, but it still plays inside any album that includes it. Pricing is then complete without prices.

Once a track has been sold under an exclusive license, the section is replaced by a Sold exclusively banner with the sale date and a link to the order. Pricing is locked because there is nothing left to sell.

Metadata (optional)

How buyers find the track. Search, filters and recommendations use these: Primary genre and Secondary genre, Primary mood and Secondary mood, BPM, Musical key, and free-form tags.

Lyrics & credits (optional)

Lyrics, Vocal gender, and collaborators (shown as "by …" in the track list).

Storefront player (optional)

Pick a saved player preset to style this track on your storefront. Shop default inherits your shop-wide preset. See Customize appearance for the full fallback order.

Publishing, scheduling, archiving

When every required section is complete on a draft, the header shows the publish button:

  • Publish: creates the matching Shopify product and puts the track live.
  • Schedule: appears instead when the release date is in the future; the track moves to Scheduled and goes live automatically on its date.
  • Save & publish / Save & schedule: the same actions when you have unsaved edits; publishing commits your edits first.

The menu carries the rest of the lifecycle:

  • View in shop: opens the product in your Shopify admin.
  • Unpublish: takes a published or scheduled track off sale, back to drafts.
  • Archive: hides the track from your sales channels and Shopify admin; find it later under the Archived tab. Unarchive brings it back.

Once published, the overview also offers a shareable product link, the same URL the Share action copies from the track list.
