Create and edit licenses
Create a license from a template, set usage terms in Simple mode or edit clause-by-clause in Advanced mode, and watch the live agreement preview update as you type.
You create and edit licenses from Licenses in the Tuneboom sidebar.
Create a license from a template
Open the template picker
In Licenses, click Create license. The picker shows the six built-in templates plus a "create your own" card for a fully custom license.
Pick a template
Selecting a template creates the license immediately, filled in with the template's name, type, delivery formats, default prices, and usage terms, and opens it in the editor. The built-in templates and their defaults are listed in How licensing works.
Adjust and activate
Rename it, set prices, tune the terms, then activate it so it appears on your products.
The license editor
The editor is one page of sections. A live preview at the bottom always shows the agreement your buyer will receive.
License details
- License name: a short name (20 characters max) shown on tracks, albums, and at checkout.
- License type: Non-exclusive or Exclusive. This also syncs with the Exclusive rights term below.
- Default track price and Default album price: the prices new tracks and albums start with for this license. You can override them per track in the track editor.
- Change template: starts the contract terms over from a different template. Your license name and prices are kept; the current terms are replaced with the template's defaults (you confirm before anything changes).
Checkout
Require acceptance at checkout makes buyers tick an "I agree" box before they can pay. If the Tuneboom app embed isn't turned on in your theme yet, the editor warns you and does not enforce acceptance until it is. See Checkout consent.
Editing mode
Every license edits in one of two modes:
- Simple: structured term fields filled in from the template. Best for most licenses.
- Advanced: clause-level editing of the full agreement text. Entering Advanced turns
the template into editable clauses you can toggle, reorder, edit, or add to, plus
Custom fields you can use as
{placeholders}in clause text.
Switching back to Simple keeps your clause edits but stops using them. The editor shows a persistent warning while inactive clause edits exist, and applies them again when you return to Advanced. Licenses in Advanced mode carry an Advanced badge in the license list.
Order processing
Choose which files are automatically fulfilled when this license is purchased:
- Automatically fulfill mp3 files (always included)
- Automatically fulfill wav files
- Automatically fulfill track stems

Contract terms (Simple mode)
Each count field takes a number or an Unlimited checkbox:
- Number of distribution copies
- Number of free downloads
- Number of audio streams
- Number of music videos
- Number of non-monetized video streams
- Number of monetized video streams
- Number of radio stations
- Not for profit performances
Plus four rights toggles:
- Allow for-profit performances
- Allow broadcasting rights
- License is transferable: the buyer may transfer the license to another party.
- Exclusive rights: grants exclusive rights; the track is no longer sold to others. Toggling this also flips the License type.
Preview
The Preview section shows the exact agreement a buyer receives, with sample purchase details filled in. It updates live as you edit terms or clauses, and Preview in modal opens it full-size. The signed PDF itself is generated per order after purchase. See Agreements.
Activate and deactivate
New licenses start inactive. Activate license makes it available for selling music; Deactivate license hides it from new purchases. Only active licenses count toward your plan's license limit, so keep drafts and retired licenses deactivated.
Duplicate or delete a license
From the row menu in Licenses:
- Duplicate copies the license, which is useful for building a ladder of similar leases.
- Delete removes it permanently. Tracks and albums using it will no longer offer it, and this cannot be undone.
Deleting is permanent
Deleting a license doesn't affect agreements already generated for past orders, but the license itself cannot be restored.
