How delivery works
What happens between a customer paying and the music landing in their inbox, from automatic fulfillment to the delivery email and every place your customer can collect their files.
When a customer pays for music in your store, Tuneboom delivers it for you. You don't send files, generate links, or mark anything as fulfilled. The whole process runs automatically the moment payment clears.
The pipeline
Payment clears
Delivery starts from the paid order, not from checkout. An order that is unpaid, fraud-held, or cancelled never triggers delivery, so your customers can't collect files for money you haven't received. Orders containing an exclusive license additionally wait for payment confirmation before ownership is settled.
Tuneboom checks the order
Before anything is sent, Tuneboom verifies it can actually deliver:
- The order has a customer email. Without one there is nowhere to send the music, so the order is placed On hold and waits for you to add an address. See When there's no customer email.
- Every purchased track has audio. If a purchased item has no deliverable audio file, the order is held with a Missing audio flag and you receive an alert email naming the order and the track. Nothing is sent to the buyer until you upload the audio.
Download links are created
Each purchased item gets its own secure download link, created with the usage limit and expiry you set under Settings→Download links. Each link is a long random web address that no one can guess, and it doesn't expose your files or your customer's details.
The order is fulfilled on Shopify
Tuneboom marks the order fulfilled in your Shopify admin, so your store's records and the customer's order status stay accurate. This happens before the email goes out, so the customer is never told their music is ready while Shopify still shows the order as unfulfilled.
The delivery email is sent
The customer receives the "Your music has arrived" email: one Download button per purchased item, artwork, and a link to the executed license agreement where one applies. On the Pro plan you can rebrand this email with your own logo, colors, and copy. See Branded emails.
If any step hits a temporary problem (a Shopify hiccup, an email provider outage), Tuneboom retries automatically and never double-sends: a delivered email is delivered once, and a fulfilled order is fulfilled once, even across retries.
Where your customer collects their music
Your customer has three routes to their files. All three point at the same downloads, so it doesn't matter which one they use.
The downloads card at checkout
Right after purchase, the Tuneboom Downloads card can show each buyer's files and signed license on the Shopify Thank you page, and again on the Order status page in customer accounts. It works on every plan, but you place it once yourself: in the checkout editor (Settings→Checkout→Customize), click Add app, pick Tuneboom Downloads, use Add to to put it on both the Thank you and Order status pages, then Save. Its position is fixed once added, so there is nothing to arrange. The setup guide's Open checkout editor button takes you straight there.
Order status page
The Order status recap appears on the new customer accounts order status page (Shopify admin: Settings→Customer accounts), not on legacy customer accounts.
The delivery email
The Download button in the delivery email opens the customer's hosted download page (below). It is not a direct file link, so it keeps working across formats and re-downloads.
The hosted download page
Every download link opens a page on tuneboom.io/download/<code> that expands to the customer's whole order: every purchased item, a format picker (MP3 / WAV / stems, as licensed), the license terms, and the agreement PDF. This is the backup path when the customer loses the email or can't find their Shopify order status page. Any one item's link recovers everything.
The page shows no customer personal details, only the purchased items and their download links, so a forwarded link never leaks who bought what.
When there's no customer email
Some orders arrive without a customer email, usually draft orders or certain accelerated checkouts. Tuneboom holds these orders instead of failing them:
- The order shows an Email missing badge in your order list and a critical banner on the order detail page.
- You click Add email to order, enter the customer's address, and save.
- Delivery resumes automatically. No refund, no re-order, no manual fulfillment.
The full walkthrough lives in Customer email missing from an order.
What you never have to do
- Send files manually or host them anywhere.
- Mark orders as fulfilled in Shopify.
- Re-deliver when a customer loses their email. Use Resend email on the order, or point them at their download link.
