Checkout consent
Require buyers to accept license terms before checkout with the Tuneboom app embed's consent modal, backed by a validation check at checkout.
When a license has Require acceptance at checkout switched on, buyers must read and accept its terms before they can pay.
The consent modal
Buyers accept license terms through a modal that appears on your cart page (and intercepts any path to checkout). The modal is part of the Tuneboom app embed, the same single switch that powers the sticky player bar, but it stays dormant until the cart holds an item whose license has Require acceptance at checkout switched on. That license flag is what arms the modal; the embed alone never shows anything. It works on Online Store 2.0 and vintage themes.
Turn on the Tuneboom app embed
In the Shopify admin, open your theme editor and go to Theme settings→App embeds. Toggle Tuneboom on and save. If you finished the setup guide, this is already done.
Turn on acceptance for the license
In Licenses→your license→Checkout, switch on Require acceptance at checkout. If Tuneboom can't find the app embed in your published theme yet, the editor shows a critical banner (Buyers cannot accept this license yet) and does not enforce acceptance. Enforcing it without the embed would stop buyers checking out with no way to agree. The banner's Turn on app embed button opens your theme editor with the embed ready to switch on; after saving, click I've turned it on — re-check.
What your buyer sees
When an item that requires acceptance is in the cart, the modal opens on the cart page and lists each license that requires acceptance, with its summary and a View full terms disclosure showing the complete contract text. Ticking the accept checkbox records the acceptance and continues to checkout. Buyers can close the modal without accepting. Checkout simply stays blocked until they agree.
The modal reads your live cart, so it also covers items added through AJAX cart drawers, and it drops a license automatically once every item carrying it leaves the cart. The modal's wording is managed by Tuneboom and translated to your storefront's language; there is nothing to configure in the theme.
The validation backstop
Behind the embed, the Tuneboom License Acceptance checkout validation function runs on Shopify's side. It covers every checkout type, including accelerated and express checkouts (Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay), where the consent modal never appears, and it blocks the checkout until the buyer has accepted every license that requires acceptance.
That means the check can't be bypassed by a wallet button or a direct checkout link: if acceptance hasn't been recorded, checkout is refused with an explanatory error, whichever route the buyer takes.
Proof of acceptance
Each recorded acceptance is stored with the order and shown in the order's License agreements section with an "Accepted at checkout" timestamp. See Agreements.
Create and edit licenses
Create a license from a template, set usage terms in Simple mode or edit clause-by-clause in Advanced mode, and watch the live agreement preview update as you type.
Agreements
Every licensed purchase generates a hosted agreement page and a signed PDF. Review them per order, see acceptance timestamps, and backfill agreements for historical orders.
