The setup guide
The verified checklist that takes a new store from install to a published, playable track.
On a new store, the Setup guide is the dashboard: "Finish these steps to get your music playing on your storefront. Your dashboard opens up once they are done." The guide disappears on its own the moment every step verifies. There is no dismiss button, because every step is needed for the storefront player to work at all.
How verification works
Nothing in the guide is self-reported. Every time you open the dashboard, Tuneboom checks each step again against your catalog and your published theme. You can't tick a box by clicking it, and a step only completes when the saved theme or the catalog proves the work happened.
That matters most for the theme-editor steps. Shopify doesn't let apps place an app block or flip an app embed for you, so Tuneboom's buttons open a pre-filled theme editor, and the row stays open until you press Save there. The guide says so on the card:
The theme editor does not save on its own. After a link opens it, press Save in the top-right corner. Nothing counts until you do.
Saved something in the theme editor? Come back and press Recheck at the bottom of the guide. Tuneboom reads your saved theme; it never edits it.
If a step shows a caution marker labeled Not verified with "We couldn't read your published theme just now. Use Recheck to try again.", that means Tuneboom couldn't reach Shopify to check, not that you did anything wrong. It never counts against your progress; press Recheck.
The steps
Add the Tuneboom player to your product page
Click Add to product page. The link opens the theme editor with the Tuneboom Player block already added to your Product information section. From there:
- Want it somewhere else? Drag the Tuneboom Player block up or down in the left sidebar (in the video it moves below the buy buttons).
- The block's settings appear on the right. Leave Layout on Automatic (managed): colors and layout come from your presets in Tuneboom, so the player stays consistent everywhere.
- Press Save in the top-right corner. The player appears in the preview with your track, waveform and price.
Vintage themes can't host the player. If your published theme still uses a Liquid product template, the step warns: "Your published theme still uses a Liquid product template, which cannot host app blocks. Switch to an Online Store 2.0 theme to add the player." The button then becomes Explore Online Store 2.0 themes, linking to your theme admin. See Player not showing.
Enable the Tuneboom app embed
Click Turn on app embed. It opens Theme settings→App embeds with the Tuneboom embed ready to toggle. Switch it on, then press Save. This one switch powers the sticky player bar and the license consent modal on your storefront, so there is nothing else to enable in the theme.
Upload your first track
Click Upload a track to open Catalog→Tracks. Drop in an audio file, and Tuneboom builds the waveform and preview for you. The step completes as soon as one track exists in your catalog. See Tracks.
Publish a track to your store
Click Review your tracks, open your track, complete its required sections and hit Publish. Publishing creates the matching Shopify product that the player links to. See The track editor.
One optional pointer below the steps
Under the checklist the guide shows one informational row. It is not a step and never blocks your dashboard, but it is worth doing:
- Show buyers their downloads after checkout. Adds each buyer's files and signed license to the Thank you and Order status pages. In the checkout editor, add the Tuneboom Downloads app block to both pages, then Save. The guide can't tick this one for you because Shopify has no way for apps to check checkout placements. When everything verifies
The guide disappears and your real dashboard appears: revenue, orders, downloads and published-catalog stats, a 30-day revenue chart, top sellers, recent orders, quick actions and a "Finish your drafts" list.
If a completed step reopens later
The player block lives in your theme, so switching themes (or removing the block while editing) can silently undo step 1. Shopify doesn't tell Tuneboom when that happens. The guide simply shows the step again on your next dashboard visit. Re-add the block the same way and press Save.
